I bought Douglas Coupland's new one - "Generation A" - on Sunday. I'll quote you from the blurb...
"Generation A is set in the near future in a world where bees are extinct, until five unconnected people around the world - in the US, Canada, France, New Zealand and Sri Lanka - are all stung. Their shared experience unites them in ways they never could have imagined."
I'm only 53 pages in, but you know when you've got a good book on the go when you're only a little way in but are hooked. It's that good. I think one of the things that make it good is not just the story, but the way it's told. Douglas Coupland has such a talent for telling stories like this. If you've never read any of his books, I'd recommend "Generation X", "Microserfs" & "J-Pod".
