Your past self

So I've got kinda addicted to Life On Mars & Ashes To Ashes recently. When you're out of work you have to find something to fill your days with!
Anyway, in case you don't know what the shows are about, the basic premis is a copper (male in Life On Mars, female in Ashes To Ashes) goes back in time ('73 in LOM and '81 in ATA) to resolve some past issue. In both cases their child selves are around and this got me thinking - if you now could go back to when you were between the ages of say 6 and 12, what would you do? Would you seek yourself out, and your parents? Bear in mind that you'd be a grown up so you could meet your parents and they wouldn't know it was you. If you did go and find yourself, what would you say to yourself? What would you tell yourself?
Obviously, with what I've gone through over the past 10 months or so I think the main piece of advice I'd give myself would be that things do get better. When you're at your lowest point, and you feel that there could not be any more pain in the world, things DO improve.
So how about you lot out there? What would you say?

If I went back in time to meet my younger self I'd say "life's not a dress rehearsal" but I think the younger me would be too stubborn to heed the advise!

Very cliched - but hey, thanks for playing! When you coming up to see me lover?

I'd cut the crap and tell myself all the major footy results so I could look like a real know-it-all and make pots of money to boot!

Failing that, I would advise myself not to opt for girl A over girl B in a particular circumstance whilst at Uni. Nothing bad, just missed out on a damn good opportunity!!!!

Yeah I have a story like that - picking girl B when I thought she was into me, so losing out on girl A, only to find out girl B WASN'T into me and in fact was a nut case... ce'st la vie

Hmmm, I would definately want to see my dad, I really miss him and it would be so wonderful to him before he got ill, part of me would want to tell him to go to the doctor's more regularly, but I guess fate has a way of getting around stuff like that.

I would probably give myself a bit of advice when it comes to men too....

I would not be so trusting of people in the early days. I then i might not have never of had to take so much shit of people who I thought were friends.

Life isn't about perfection, it's about simply living. :/ That being said, everything you need to know you learned in kidnergarden... play nicely, clean up after yourself, and hug a friend when they have an oowie. I think there are some more things in the mix, but I think that resonates with deeper spiritual principles throughout a majority of the world's spiritual paths. Or simply... DO GOOD! The rest are just details... simplify... simplify... simplify.

... but most importantly, I would tell myself...

I totally just popped myself into this conversation via randomly searching blogs.

PS - Totally digging that Storm Trooper pic on your Home page.

Talya - thanks for stopping by. I liked the bit about what you learned in kindagarten - so simple yet quite true. And the Stormtrooper is actually me in fancy dress... nah, I'm kidding, photoshop makes everything easy.
